Kalaiarasan Rasadurai, FCIArb is a dispute resolution lawyer in the Construction and Engineering Practice of Skrine. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He primarily practices in the field of construction, engineering, oil & gas, energy, civil and commercial disputes. Kalai regularly represents clients in Courts and has appeared in all tiers of the Courts. He is involved in numerous complex construction, engineering and commercial disputes involving parallel proceedings at various levels of the courts. He is also involved in arbitration related court proceedings, winding-up and post winding-up proceedings. In the Alternate Dispute Resolution sphere, Kalai has represented clients in international and domestic arbitrations (both ad hoc and administered proceedings), adjudications (statutory and contractual) and mediations (court-annexed and private). He is experienced in the various stages of construction and engineering projects and has advised clients on a range of issues involving contract administration, dispute avoidance, dispute management and resolution of disputes. Kalai was remarked as “very reliable” in his work, in a Client Feedback for Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific 2019. He is currently the Vice President of the Society of Construction Law, Malaysia, the Honorary Treasurer for The Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators and a Committee Member of the Bar Council Arbitration and Construction Law Committee where he Co-Heads the Law Reform & Policy Sub-Committee. As a person who is passionate about the development of the law, he is involved in various proposals for reform of construction and ADR related laws. He is regularly invited to speak, debate and moderate at conferences, talks and panel discussions. Apart from that, he has also been invited to judge various moot competitions.
