MIArb - Notice of 29th Annual General Meeting (2nd Notice)

TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE MIARB

Re: Election of Council of the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators for the 2021/2023 Term

Dear Members, 

The above matter refers.

1.

The 29th Annual General Meeting ("AGM") of the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators ("MIArb") will be held at 6pm on the 29th of July 2021 via ZOOM (online).

 

2.

The agenda for this year's AGM includes the election of 5 Office Bearers and 3 Ordinary Council Members for the 2021/2023 term.

 

 

3.

The following are the positions that are up for elections:

 

 

A. President;

B. Deputy President;

C. Vice President;

D. Honorary Secretary; 

E. Honorary Treasurer; and

F. 3 Ordinary Council members.

 

 

4.

As at the close of nominations yesterday, we are pleased to inform that the Council received the following nomination papers for the following positions:

 

A. for the post of President - Mr. Ooi Huey Miin;

B. for the post of Deputy President - Ms. Victoria Loi Tien Fen;

C. for the post of Vice President – Mr. Mak Hon Pan and Ms. Dawn Wong Keng Jade;

D. for the post of Honorary Secretary - Ms. Lai Jian Xian, Nina;

E. for the post of Honorary Treasurer - Mr. Wai Chan Ming;

F. for the post of Ordinary Council member â€“  1. Mr Chong Wai Kien

              2. Mr. Allen Cheng Peng Han

We attach herewith the Candidate Statements of the above candidates for your consideration.

Please refer to the Secretariat for details.

 

 

6.

We propose to call upon each candidate to deliver a hustings speech of up to 5 minutes at the AGM. Candidates will be invited to deliver their speeches in the following order:

 

 

 

A. the candidates for the posts of Ordinary Council Members;

B. the candidate for the post of Honorary Treasurer;

C. the candidate for the post of Honorary Secretary;

D. the candidate for the post of Vice President;

E. the candidate for the post of Deputy President; and

F. the candidates for the post of President.

 

 

7.

For positions in respect of which there are contests, we propose to call upon candidates to deliver their speeches in the order in which their nomination papers were received. 

 

8.
